Whisper

Whisper was my first solo project.

Recorded in 2002, it reflects a time I spent waiting on God to direct me with regard to my next steps in Christian service. During a six month period from late 2001, I walked away from any sort of musical ministry completely, thinking that I would no longer follow that path, but God had other ideas. After waiting for six months, and spending time reading through the writings of the Old Testament prophets, God called me back into music, which was a complete surprise for me at the time. This album is made up of songs that I had written over a two week period immediately after receiving that fresh call for music. Up until that point I hadn't written a song in years.

The album was recorded with my good friend, and Ascension buddy, Mark Millar, who co-produced the album with me, as well as playing on it, recording it, editing it, mastering it...you get the picture! (oh, and plying me with loads of tea and chocy thingys). Also appearing on the album is my dear friend Suzanne McClean (or McShane as she was at the time).

I always think that a good song, or a God song rather, is one that speaks to you over and over again...even if you are the one who wrote it, and this is how I find many of these tracks. I have found myself going back to many of these songs lately, as I have been facing a fresh desert experience in my own life over the last while. It can be hard to find God in the wasteland, but He is always there somewhere, and so much of this album is helping me see that once again, as I wrestle with the twists and turns of this journey we call life.
